I am an Associate Professor in the College of Arts and Letters and Director of the Diplomacy Lab at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ.

Since 2009 I have run DCinbox, archiving and providing to the public all official e-newsletters sent by members of Congress.

In 2018 I published Congress and U.S. Veterans: From the GI Bill to the VA Crisis.

My current book project, How to Raise a Citizen, explains how parents have to take an engaged role in helping children to learn about politics and government and how to have a set of hard conversations, because schools do not do this work with students in ways that prepare them to be active, understanding citizens.
I specialize in American politics, specifically strategic political communication in the contexts of congress, veterans politics, psychedelic politics, women in politics and electoral systems.
