I am an Associate Professor of Political Science at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, the director of DCinbox, and an internationally booked speaker on American politics & governance, civic know-how, and civic education.

If you're interested in having me at one of your events, here's a number of clips from my previous engagements, and you can contact me directly here.

My latest book, How to Raise a Citizen (And Why it's Up to You to Do It), explains how and why parents must help their children to learn about politics and government. Though many people think schools should do this work, curricular crowd-out in favor of subjects used on college entrance exams, and teacher fears of parental blowback often mean that our kids leave our homes and high schools without an understanding of the political system.

The book is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Bookshop, and anywhere else you find books.

Since 2009 I have run DCinbox, archiving and providing to the public all official e-newsletters sent by members of Congress. In 2018 I published Congress and U.S. Veterans: From the GI Bill to the VA Crisis.

Beyond parenting and politics, I specialize in American politics, specifically strategic political communication in the contexts of congress, veterans politics, women in politics and electoral systems.
